EEF President
Lindsey Kayman is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a BA in chemistry from Rutgers College and a SM in Environmental Health Sciences from The Harvard School of Public Health. She has over 25 years in the field of environmental and occupational health and safety. Lindsey recently retired as Environmental Health and Safety Director at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and Chair of the College's Sustainability Council. Lindsey was a LEED- Accredited Professional in Existing Building Operation and Maintenance until recently and has been a trustee of the NJ Environmental Lobby since 2011. She has been on the Planning Committee of the Princeton Environmental Film Festival from 2008-2020 and is now on the film screening comittee of the Wild NY Film Festival. Lindsey saw first hand how environmental films significantly raise awareness on vital issues underreported in the media and how the films inspire and strengthen the commitment of viewers to take action to improve sustainability and environmental practices in their own communities. As President of The Environmental Education Fund she refocused the mission of the EEF on helping other organizations hold environmental film festivals and helping students and others become active in the environmental movement. Via Pouget is a recent graduate of the innovative CUNY BA program from the City University of NY focused on Environmental Science and Sustainability. She has a deep-seated dedication to fostering positive change. As a Democracy Coach at Generation Citizen, she taught a 6th-grade class advocacy skills and mentored the students in a transformative environmental project. At CUNY, Via worked in the campus susatinability office where she helped to incorporate sustainabiltiy and environmental justice into the college's strategic plan. One of the high points of Via’s academic journey was being honored with the prestigious Gilman International Scholarship which supported a sustainable agriculture internship in India, (conducted virtually due to the pandemic). The focus of her work was on strengthening the roles of tribal women, demonstrating a commitment to global sustainability issues and social empowerment. Erica Cowper is a senior working towards a MS in Biology at Lehigh University. She began working with EEF in the effort to prevent part of the forest at Drew University from being developed and made this a project of the Drew Environmental Action League. Erica is Chair of youth outreach for the North Jersey Sierra Club. She became Program Manager for EEF in April 2021, after she participated in an EEF forum entitled, "How the Sustainability Movement Can Promote Harmony with Nature." Naniko (Nana) Chikhladze Barrett graduated wtih a masters in Global Development- International Agriculture & Rural Development from Cornell University. She has a BA in Agribusiness Management from Delaware Valley University. While a student there she hosted an EcoCinema event and was involved with an Educational Community Garden at DVU where she managed volunteer communications, took part in planning, planting, and growing process. She loves nature and agriculture and is passionate about climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices. Michael Britton, Ed.D. is a licensed psychologist, psychotherapist and researcher, currently providing lectures and training on working through psychological obstacles to dealing with climate crisis. He has done presentations for EEF and for ANJEE related to climate change, has been adjunct faculty at Rutgers University in the Counseling program, and has spoken locally and internationally on climate change and on overcoming historical trauma blocking pathways to global cooperation. Rohit Gangwani conducts nature and bird watching hikes and has a team of volunteers for forest clean-ups, and for advocacy to preserve nature in Amravati, India, where he lives. Rohit is an undergraduate at VidyaBharti College in India. He began conducting environmental events and ecoliteracy training sessions in conjunction with EEF at his college in 2018 and began working for EEF in March 2020. Much of our research concerns issues being decided by the New Jersey legislature.
