So Your School Will Be Holding an EcoCinema Cafe Film Festival...
Opportunities for Student and Staff Participation and Recognition
An EcoCinema Film Festival usually involves showing films in a public area for an extended time period. This allows for a large number of people, many of whom may know very little about the environment, to enjoy the film festival.
In order to make sure an event like this runs smoothly, it requires a lot of preparation in the weeks and months ahead of the festival, as well as having people on-the-ground during the festival.
There are many ways that students and staff can participate and develop skills that employers are looking for. Based upon the recommendation of the Organizer(s), volunteers may be recognized with an EEF Certificate in one or more of the areas listed below.

Curator: You would help to select and screen films for the festival. If you are already very knowledgeable about environmental issues or are interested in getting yourself up to speed about these issues, we would love your help in thinking about which films would be most appealing to the college community. |
Artist: There is no end to the creative events you can incorporate into the festival. Create a festival within a festival. For example, students held a "Free at Last! " festival, showing clips of rescued factory farm animals between films. You can incorporate art exhibitions, fashion events, debates, music, whatever inspires you and the community.
|
Networker: Do you have a million friends and good interactions with teachers? The most important part of holding a festival is getting attendance. Develop and show off your social networking skills by encouraging your peers, classmates, and professors who otherwise wouldn't, to attend part of the festival. We also encourage you to reach out to, and involve, speakers from local business and organizations.
|
Administrator: For people who will make room, room set-up, video-conferencing, and AV reservations, ensure snacks are brought to the room, hand out extra credit slips, organize tables, welcome speakers, do a video-conferencing practice run with speakers in advance, and troubleshoot technical problems during the event. |
